12 Volt - 6 Amp: Fully Automatic two-stage battery charger, UL and CSA approved. Specially designed for Industrial and OEM applications such as Golf caddies and scooters among others. Full 3 LED Display: Indicators display the battery's condition. The red light indicates that the charger has a 120-volt AC supply present. The yellow light indicates the proper connection to the battery and combined with the red light indicates the charger is charging. The green light indicates a full charge. Lights alternate when approaching full charge. This prevents overcharging as the battery reaches its full capacity. Protection: The charger has electronic protection against reverse polarity and short circuits. The overload protection is provided by two fully automatic re-settable bimetallic circuit breakers. One protecting against excess current flow and the other from excess temperature rise. Charging: The charger is capable of charging all commonly available Lead Acid batteries with rating from 20 to 100 amp/hour. All functions are fully automatic. The charger constantly monitors the battery condition. The charging sequence is determined by the condition of the battery and is fully interactive. I keep this hooked to the battery that powers it. It is always on and works great. In that time I have only gone through 2 batterys, so it really increased battery life.

The failed unit was used on an industrial lift cart, and appears to have failed due to metal chips from manufacturing processes getting into the case and causing a short on the circuit board. Even so, it had lasted over five years and had worked very well during that time. It is designed to be connected to the battery continuously and has circuitry to reduce the charging current when the battery is fully charged. It performs this function well. The manufacturer of the lift cart should have protected the charger more effectively from contaminants found in industrial settings. The unit is sturdy, reasonably priced, and has LEDs to show the charge status.
